Arch and Cable + Sustainability
Arch + Cable Hotel offers modern, high-end hospitality that focuses on sustainability in the space we use and the products we’ve chosen. We’d love to share some of the ways we are being conscious of consumption.
First and foremost, Arch + Cable is being constructed in a pre-existing building that contains other businesses and even some residential space. Utilizing this previously vacant office space allows us to create a useful business to benefit travelers and the community of Mankato, while being mindful of the environment and not disturbing any land with new development.
Typically in a hotel room you will find little individually packaged bars of soap or small bottles of shampoo. While the packaging on those items are likely made from recyclable materials, there is a lot of waste with those products as an opened package can’t be used for the next guest. At Arch + Cable, all consumable room products are going to be bulk bottles instead of single use.
The brand we’ve chosen for consumables is Terra Pure and they focus on recycled materials for their packaging and use 100% soy ink for printing. The products themselves, whether it be lotion, shampoo, conditioner, or body wash, are made from organic, natural ingredients and are paraben and gluten free.
Our towels, Monarch Luxe, are made using extra-long stables cotton, which is known for contributing to sustainable consumption of cotton. The towel material is able to absorb three times as much as a standard towel and has the ability to dry quickly, which helps conserve energy when laundering.
We also want to make sure our towels are comfortable and stand up to use. We sampled six different towel brands, including washing them, and these held up the best by far! They are incredibly soft and knowing they have an environmental benefit makes them that much better.
Lastly, our sheets are sourced from a hospitality company, American Hotel, that has developed a program called the Living Green line, which means included products are eco-friendly by either being made from recycled materials, is recyclable itself, or conserves energy, water, and/or waste.
